Gamma's Birthday.

My mom’s birthday is August 28th and since it coincides with school starting back up it frequently gets overlooked.  This year we decided to celebrate by escaping for the day and going on a little day trip.  We looped up Highway 65 through Smartville and returned via Highway 49.

There is a covered bridge in Bridgeport that my mom has always wanted to visit, so today was the day!  If you ever are driving through that area I definitely recommend stopping by that little park.  It is run by California State Parks and it is adorable!  They have so much more than a covered bridge including a museum, bird and wildflower walks, and even gold panning demonstrations.  Once we had our fill of wandering through the bridge, reading the plaques, looking at all of the “vehicles” in the barn we played in the water.  Well, Perri played in the water, I took pictures, and my mom looked at a map.  Really we are a thrilling group.

On the way back down 49 we stopped in Nevada City to window shop and then in Grass Valley for dinner.  We are true (Scot) Irish girls and looove pasties so we stop by Cousin Jacks any time we get the chance.  The Chicken Pasties and shortbread really wrapped up the day perfectly.

Happy Birthday Gamma!!

July and August Wrap Up.

August (and the end of July) have flown by!

The last week of July started with Troy (Perri’s Dad), Sara (Perri’s soon-to-be-Step-Mom), and Landon (Perri’s Half-Brother) coming to visit for a few days.  Since they live in Carmel and we live here, it is not easy to get together, but we’re working on it!  We had a great time; lots of eating, playing at Folsom Zoo, and playing at Brainy Zoo.  We can’t wait to see them again!

Just a few days after that I went to Monterey with Becky to celebrate Lindsey’s Ranger Graduation.  It was a Girls Getaway and we had quite the time. We got to relax on the beach with our wine and books, get massages, and enjoy dinner at Latitudes.  Though the topper of the trip might have been our bike ride.  Becky and I stayed at the Beachcomber Inn and they’ll lend you beach cruisers so we decided to ride to First Awakenings for breakfast.  It was a great peaceful and calming way to kick off our trip.

The following week Perri and I got to go camping with most of the Usual Suspects (Becky, Jesse, Lindsey, Wallace, Michele, and Sam).  It was our 8th Annual trip, we’ve been going every year since we graduated High School.  We always try somewhere new, we always pack way to much, and we always have a TON of fun.  This year we planned on going to Glory Hole Recreation Area (yes, that’s what it’s really called) but once we arrived, we deemed it way to dangerous. The slope down to the water from our campground was insane!  It was incredibly steep and quite the distance; not somewhere for a toddler, a dog, and a bunch of people planning on drinking.  So we hopped back in the car, started driving, and found River Ranch Campground.  BEST PLACE EVER.  It was phenomenal.  Huge sites, great price, fantastic owners, and sites right on a little stream/river.  It couldn’t have been more perfect for how we wanted our weekend to go.  I will be adding pictures soon.

After camping it’s been a whirl wind of going back to work, going back to school, starting at TT’s, and the usual life stuff.  I also got called for Jury Duty and actually got put on a case!  Because of that I was out of work again for another week.  Really it feels like it’s been nuts here, but I can’t put my finger on any specific reason why.  Anyways, I think life is going to start calming down a little more around here and I’ll be able to keep this updated!!
July and August Wrap Up.
I really should have taken this picture without everyone facing into the sun. Instead I was mean and made them squint.

Dog Day's of Summer.

It’s been a while since I’ve started this site and so far I haven’t updated.  I keep sitting down, writing a partial entry, and then never posting it.  I wasn’t expecting to be great at updating, but I didn’t think I’d be this bad.  I definitely have a new respect for bloggers!!

Anyways, so far it seems as though we haven’t done much with our summer even though it has flown by.  Mostly we’ve spent it relaxing (well I’ve spent it working, Perri has been the one relaxing.)  We did get the chance to go camping, swim in Nana’s pool, and play with lots of friends so I really can’t complain.

We had lots of changes last week.  Perri has been with my mom (her Gamma) all summer and now Gamma has to go back to her real job of teaching so Perr gets to go to Terri’s new day-care.  Terri (also known as TT) has been friends with my mom and Mel since they all went to high school together, so I’ve definitely known her for a while!  This summer TT decided that she didn’t want to be a preschool teacher anymore and she was ready to open her own daycare.  Perri and I are thrilled, TT is phenomenal with toddlers and Perr is already making progress being there!

Perri really is a great toddler.  She’s growing more and more by the day; she wears size 8 shoes and 3T clothes!  She’s not even 2!!
-She can get most of her shoes on and off by herself, and once she gets the shoe off, a sock comes off and is immediately made into a puppet.  Usually a roaring dinosaur.
-She loves to brush her own hair and teeth.
-She is great at latching herself into her car-seat and high-chair, but hasn’t ever tried to unlatch them.
-She still adores her dogs more than almost anything.
-All of her hair now fits into a pony tail and it might be the cutest thing you’ve ever seen.
-She loves to dance.
-Food preferences change daily.  Today applesauce and cherry tomatoes couldn’t be beat.
-Her vocabulary is growing exponentially.  (Thank God!)
Overall, she is really advanced for a 20 month old toddler and I’m always having to remind myself of how young she is.  My baby just looks so grown up!

Now that we are getting back into the routine of things, I think I will be able to keep up with this better!

At her first swim meet Uncle Freddie bought her her first Sno-Cone.  Of course she loved it!!
